May 22, 09 at 3:20 amChoosing a program can be frustrating. I would suggest going to your local drug councelling office and speaking with them about your options. They very often have drop in times when you can speak with someone without an appointment. You can also check out my website http://www.drug-abuse-support.com, the drug abuse rehab page outlines the various types of rehabilitation available and may help you know which type of treatment you think will work for you. Finding the right treatment is possible. Do you have a support system, can you ask your family to help you? Doing it alone is much more difficult. I too am a recovering addict and I hope you are able to find your way to a clean and healthy life. Good Luck!

May 22, 09 at 5:40 amFirst things first, both the meth and pot need to be stopped, especially because of your mental health conditions. I would absolutely suggest for you to seek out professional help. Trying to quit these drugs on your own, I don’t think is a good idea, due to your mental health state and the fact that withdrawal symptoms from meth especially can be very dangerous and you should not be alone.
I want to recommend you to take a look at this website, http://www.drugabuse.com/drug-abuse-help.html?utm_source=ans&utm_medium=pv&utm_content=ld&utm_campaign=rcx, and on that site there is a lot of useful and helpful information about drug abuse help, and the treatment options that are available.
There also is a toll-free helpline number on the site, which I suggest that you call. By calling you will be able to speak to a trained professional who works in the field of drug abuse treatment, and they will help you with getting you back on the right track.
Good luck to you and best wishes.

May 22, 09 at 4:46 pmYou definitely need to stop the pot and meth. That will kill you.
I have Bipolar. I’ve been seeing a psychiatrist for 9 yrs and have been on different dosages and different combinations of meds during that time. Now I"m no Effexor XR, Propranelol and Abilify. I have energy now, with the addition of Abilify. I don’t sleep all day long. I just have to find things to do to keep me busy or I sleep out of boredom or over eat.
I suggest you see a counselor first or get a referral to one from a family doctor. Then they can match you up with a pyschiatrist and start a medicine treatment as well as counseling treatment. But you can’t be on anti-depressants while doing meth and/or pot. That combo will harm your heart and blood pressure.
I use to smoke pot and drink. It’s been 15 yrs. The first 3 months were hard, after that I was fine and didn’t miss them. I quit cigarettes 5 yrs ago and love being able to breath. Addiction is a hard thing to stop. I’ve found that an addictive personality is a tough thing to overcome. When you give up one addiction, to fill that time with another. I eat. I also pick at my toenails and out of anger pulled out my toenails twice. Through counseling I’ve learned that it’s about addiction and self-harm. Smoking pot, doing other street drugs is harming yourself. You don’t want to face reality, to face your past, to face your feelings. But instead of physically harming yourself, it’s better to face your fears, emotions and past. That’s not an addiction and can heal faster and better than addiction to drugs and food, etc.
If you need to talk to someone. please feel free to email me. I’m on disability and home and online often. So I will check me emails throughout the day and can get back to asap. Please call someone for professional help to get off the meth and pot. Counselor, walk-in clinic, emergency room, admit yourself to a behavior clinic in a hospital, family member, friend, neighbor, etc. You don’t want to get arrested and locked up. You need to take care of yourself and start today.
Good luck. I’ll be praying for you.

May 22, 09 at 11:57 pmThis is unfortunate to hear. I believe the type of treatment that would be best for you is dual diagnosis treatment. This is a special kind of addiction treatment where they treat not only the substance addiction but also they assess any underlying psychological issues that exist.
