a dear friend of mine has legitimate pain. and has been taking an abusing the scripts for a numbers of years .recently the clinic that had been providing her the drugs.[teatment if you will] contacted her in that they could no longer help her w/ her treatment. [gee thanks!]she began seeing a pain mgnt doctor. WITHOUT A VERIFIED MEDICAL HISTORY REPORT . HE HAS BEEN PRESCRIBING HER THE DRUGS. FOR HER PAIN MAINLY OPIATES. AND THEN BECAUSE OF THE NATURE OF OVERDOSING THE DRUGS . ALONG WITH OTHERS . HER MENTAL STATE IS BECOME DETERIORATED TO THAT POINT . [OF NOT WANTING TO LIVE] . HE HAS CONSULTED HER ON USING*ANTI DEPRESSANTSNTS AND HAS EVEN INCREASED HER AMOUNT OF OTHERS.. I WOULD LIKE TO ENLIGHTEN HIM ON THESE AN OTHER ISSUES RETAINING TO WHAT IS GOING ON . IN a NON CONFRONTATIONAL MANNER . WITHOUT HIM REVILING OUR DISCUSSION TO HER DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY. BUT I`M AT A LOSS.I KNOW THAT JUST BEING THERE IS THE BEST THING I CAN DO BUT HE NEEDS TO KNOW! STRAIGHT UP.
PS
I DON’T NEED DRUG INFORMATION .
I JUST NEED TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY. AND HAVE IT DELT WITH IN PROFESSIONAL MANNER.
* BOTH, STRONGLY AGAINST.[dont even go there]
I DONT WANT TO SUE HIM AND THE AMA CA KISS MY BUTTOCKS!

May 27, 09 at 3:21 amI had an aunt in that situation, so I understand what you are talking about. She was older, had knee replacement surgery and became addicted to pain medications. Her story didn’t end happily.
Already one place has refused to treat your friend because they recognize the problem. I would definately talk to her doctor and tell him of her suspected addiction. Give him the name of the ones that will no longer see her for her abuse, and see if he can help. Just cutting her off wont do any good, she will just find other ways to get it. Please don’t cover for her behavior. Everyone at this point needs to make it clear they know she is abusing drugs and make her take the consequences for what happens. She will have to get to the point she sees her behavior is a problem before she will do anything about it. Sadly this usually doesn’t come until they are on the streets in the rain with no where to go.

May 27, 09 at 9:12 pmThere are strict privacy rules regarding patient confidentiality. A physician will not discuss any aspect of his patient’s situation with you. It is against the law for him to do so.
If you have a legitimate complaint regarding a doctor, that you can substantiate with witness testimony and/or evidence, then you may contact the AMA disciplinary board in your state. The AMA is authorized to investigate and sanction doctors who may be acting in an improper manner.
If you make unsubstantiated accusations or attempt to inject yourself into a patient’s private affairs, then you will bear the full legal consequences of doing so. I am not trying to scare you, but rather to make you understand the gravity of what you are alleging and how it will impact you.
