A freind moved a meth head in and I have not heard from him in a week. What should I do?

My freind has a history of substance abuse. He has been in and out of treatment centers many times. He always gets back up and back on track. This time he is in school to be a drug and alchohol councilor. He was doing well, good grades and all, then he sends me a link to yahoo answers where he had sought advice because the homeless guy he had given a place to stay, had taken over his life and he was afraid if he called the cops they would find meth on him and he would be implicated. Along with this link, was an additional statment that if he gets murdered, this is the guys name.
So a couple of days later I get an email from him that says the whole thing was a hoax, I love you, Happy Halloween. I immediately returned an email asking why he would do such a thing. That was a week ago and I have not heard anything since then. I only have a vague notion of where he lives. What should I do?
