Two months ago, my daughter was in the hospital and she was diagnosed with drug induced pychosis due to cannibus abuse. She was released from the hospital last month with the suggestion that she go to NA - 12 step program and to continue to see a profesional doctor. In the past month, she has followed through in the community the doctor said my daughter doesn’t need medication but 3 weeks later she breaks up with her boy from a long term relationship of 7 years. One week later, she shows up at my house with mood swings and irritabity. Just yesterday she calls an ambulance and the police tell me she appears to be high. She is admitted into hospital and the hospital doctor tells me that she tested negative for drugs in her system but appears to be high and my daughter refuses to talk to the doctor. Therefore, the doctor tells me that my daughter is a textbook bipolar. The information that I read about bipoplar is extremely vague and she doesn’t meet the severity of this disorder.
I like to thank everyone for their responses. You are all very supportive. I will keep an open mind. Politely saying my daugther was not seen by a ER doctor but was diagnosis in 20 minutes by a psychiatrist. Facts, she has untreated drug issues for 12 years with a developmental/learning disabilty and over those years different psychiatrist have ruled out schizophrenia.(This has all be documented. It has been a long haul but my daughter and I both feel bombared. Almost like some old, some old. Time will tell, we are patience) Maybe she is bipolar or maybe she is not. All I know is that I’m not a psychiatrist, just a mom whom been there for 27 years. Thanks
