Every 75 seconds another innocent person is incarcerated by psychiatry
Children as young as 6 have been killed by psychiatric restraints
VIolent crime has increased by 147% with psychiatry in the justic system
Up to $47 billion has been spent on failed community mental health programs

Yes, indeed I did have a bad experience wiht a psychiatrist. I was expereincing anxiety and depression, so I went to see him. He didn’t listen to me, he was not understanding and he couldn’t prescribe drugs fast enough. When I felt worse on them, he just prescribed more. He never bothered to listen to the personal problems I was going through, he was just interested in labelling and drugging me.
Then one day, my personal problems were resolved (I didn’t have a job — that was what was causing the anxiety and depression) but then one day I was offered a job. Ever since then I have felt better. But did my psychiatrist listen to me? No, he literally told me that I was still depressed after I told him I wasn’t anymore.
I haven’t gone to him for three months and have never felt better.

Jul 13, 09 at 4:28 amI do believe that you have to be a bit "crazy" to be a psychiatrist. Having gone to one before, I know she was "nutty as a fruitcake". All she managed to do was lighten my wallet. It seems like it is easier for doctors, regardless of what type of medicine they practice, to give people a pill and "see if it works", rather than trying to find the problem and fix it.. Finding a ‘good doctor’ is harder than people think. It’s real scary when you think about it, especially when you have insurance companies, HMO,etc telling you that you have to go to a certain doctor because they agree to accept what the insurance will give them. Health is based on money, not the skill of the physician. Alot of kids are being diagnosed as ADHD or ADD. Basically these are normal kids, but when you factor in poor diets loaded with sugar and a video game/computer seditary lifestyle, you have kids who have an over abundance of unused energy and during the times they need to pay attention, they can’t.
The ADD/ADHD label just gives parents and kids an excuse. Parents then think it is not their fault that their kids act up. And kids find it a convenient excuse to not do what they are told or expected to do. These kids are then put on drugs to ‘fix the problem’. The drug companies are making a mint.

Jul 13, 09 at 9:19 amThe gist of you question sounds like you had a recent bad experience w/ a psychiatrist…
I am a physician (not a shrink), and know a few psychiatrists. I can tell you, they are very sensitive, caring people who want to share their talents and knowledge of how the brain works to help people in distress. There is no worse distress than emotional or mental sickness.

Jul 13, 09 at 12:45 pmI have had much better experiences with psychologists, and social workers. Maybe because they can’t prescribe drugs, they tend to be more interested in helping you develop coping skills, and increasing your cognitive awareness.
