How do i get my doctor to precribe Xanex?
Written on October 18, 2009 – 5:39 pm | by Drug Abuse Help
first of all, let it be known that i have no intention to abuse these drugs.
over the past few years i have suffered from anxiety attacks and mild depression.
I never go to doctors, so im not sure how to ask for medication.
how do they evaluate a person to qualify for Xanex?
What are the right/wrong thing to say when asking for a prescription?
Any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance

just tell them the truth and be honest. if you are getting panic atacks and depression they should know what’s best…you could even bring up the particular medecation (xanex) as a suggestion for what you need.
good luck alanna

Oct 18, 09 at 7:15 amThing is, you really shouldn’t ask for any specific medication. Of course, it’s not a bad idea to ask your doctor if a medication might help, such as Xanax.
Depending on different risk factors (ESPECIALLY your age), drugs such as Xanax may not be in your best interest.
You’re not qualified to decide which prescription drug you should take for this. Your doctor may decide that another drug better suits you, or that some form of therapy will be better for you over all.
The bottom line is this: Talk to your doctor. They will look at your situation, and they will decide what medication, if any, is appropriate. If you think one might be better, ask your doctor about the medication and how it might work for you.
Edit: Don’t make stuff up to get drugs you don’t know if you need. Get the drugs you NEED by telling your doctor the entire truth and nothing else.
People on anti-anxiety meds will tell you this much: They wish they didn’t have to take them. As a personal note, I HATE taking them…they make you drowsy and out of it, and they make it hard to get things done. I take them as rarely as possible, hardly ever anymore, and go for other, more natural approaches to curtail anxiety.

Oct 18, 09 at 11:21 amYou just need to tell the doctor that you almost wrecked your car because you felt like you were having a heart attack. That you are uncomfortable around people and start shaking and very nervous. That you wake up in the middle of the night sweating with a rapid heartbeat. They will most likely try you on depression meds first but make sure you stay consistent with description of how you are feeling. They have to know it hinders you everyday life. Doctors don’t want to prescribe this and are suspicious. It is hard but do not use the words anxiety or panic attacks just act like you don’t know why this is happening to you, and it always helps if you cry in the doctors office because they will know how hard you are taking this.
