legal help please not sure what to do about sexual abuse in a daycare?

Written on November 10, 2009 – 5:47 am | by Drug Abuse Help

I work at a daycare and I reported this other co-worker for sexual abuse. She lifted up her shirt and asked this 1 1/2 year old to suck on her boobs. She did not get fired only thing is that its in her documents. Which I think was not enough. Well today I got fired because this lady got some of the teachers against me and told the owners that I had drugs (marijuana) in my purse. Which is not true I have to admit that I do smoke on my own time once in awhile but never brought it to the school or anywhere for that matter. They said they had two people who seen it in my purse and others who heard about it. I told them that I was going to tell the parents of the little boy who was sexually abused because the daycare never told the parents or any law enforcement. They said that they were going to turn me in because they have two people who said they seen the drugs. I want law enforcement to get involved but I dont want to get in trouble for this. What should I do should I leave it alone?
Also the lady that I reported is a meth addict and the owners know of this because the other witness who seen her lift up her shirt was asked by one of the owners if she was high on meth when she was asking the boy to suck on her boobs? I just don’t know if I should tell law enforcement about this or just leave it alone. Those little babies I feel so bad for them. She was in the two year old room and when one would cry she would let the other children jump and hit the crying child. I have complained about her many of times but she seems to get away with it. The owners say that she is there project. Any answers would surely help me….
I not sure if they can prove the drugs thing in my purse because I don’t think they have proof. Only what others have said they seen. But the state is in Montana.

Call the police and welfare. They have to prove the pot allegations.

Child welfare calls are usually kept anonymous. Call Montana child protective services.

Suggestion: State your observations, with dates and times whenever possible. Let them draw their own conclusions.

In the United States - Under more than one bill, but the one that comes to mind is the "Ryan Luke Bill" which I believe was in 1995. You are obligated to report suspected abuse. You should at least tell the parents of this child; let them take it form there but make sure you are stated as a witness, even though I am not sure what kind of witness you would be. If you a smoking weed and getting high then you should not let anyone know. They can fire you for that, they should also fire the meth head + you should tell us all what day care this is so none of us are to drop our kids off. Sounds like a Crack Day Care, how in the world do they keep their license or do they even have one at all?

If you smoke marijuana, on or off the job, that’s valid grounds for firing you.

But I don’t think this lady should be getting away with what she did. I’d suggest you call the police.

You are up a creek without a paddle on that one. I would go to the parents and tell them the whole story, including why you got fired. As far as the cops are concerned, don’t sweat that, it will never be an issue, because it is just hearsay and they can’t do anything to you. You are not the danger here, it is the pervert that is problem, so be brave and alert the parents, because that is the right thing to do. Just be careful next time with the chronic and trust no one that you work with. It is a real shame that we have to hide our lifestyle and something that should be legal anyway. Toke on and don’t Bogart
