can trazodone be abused? what are effects? dr insists it cannot be abused, and that you do not get high?

I know someone who abuses every drug he can get his hands, trazodone is the latest. dr. insists it will not get him high, but he certainly seems to be high to me, it appears to have a "downer" effect; slurred speech, lack of coordination, heavy eyelids. Any info is appreciated.
